Collection
of Personal Information from Site Visitors
The Network automatically tracks the e-mail addresses of visitors that communicate
with the Network via e-mail, post messages to the Network bulletin boards,
or post messages to the Network chat groups, information knowingly provided
by the visitor in online forms, registration forms, surveys, and contest entries,
and aggregate information on what pages visitors access.
Rocky Mountain
PBS Online and our Affiliated Sites will never willfully disclose any personally
identifiable information about our audience to any third party without receiving
the users permission. Our e-mail data bases are not disclosed, sold
or used for third party endeavors. We do not collect personally identifiable
information from our visitors other than what is supplied to us on a voluntary
basis.
Personal data collected
by the Network will be used by the Network for editorial and feedback purposes,
for marketing and promotional purposes, for a statistical analysis of users
preferences, for product or programming development. We use the information
to improve our services and better serve our users and viewers.
Visitors may opt
out of having their personal information collected by the Network by checking
the appropriate box on the online form, not disclosing such information, or
by contacting the Network by phone, postal mail, or e-mail.
Visitors to the
Network may voluntarily supply certain personally identifiable information
in connection with contest or sweepstakes registration subscription registration
for sites or services which require subscription (such as e-mail newsletters),
requests for membership information and transactions in the Network store.
In addition, personally identifiable information is voluntarily provided in
connection with certain content submissions, community postings (i.e., forums
or bulletin boards), comments and suggestions, or voting.
The Network may
use such information only for conducting the activities stated above, for
internal marketing and promotional purposes. The extent of such use is always
explained at the time a site visitor provides such information. If the visitor
does not want this information collected and used by us for the disclosed
internal purposes, the visitor is given an opportunity to opt-out.
Our visitors need to recognize, however, that under certain circumstances,
if they select to opt-out they may not be eligible for certain activities
for which the personally identifiable information is needed. (For example,
if a contest participant opts-out on permitting us to collect and use their
personal information, we are unable to notify them if they win.)
